Blog Day

Today was yet another day of working on documenting the work that I've done in my Big Product Blog. I'm basically finished, except for scanning in some of the earlier sketches. I'm pleased with my progress, and I'm proud of all that I've done with the project.

Blog Day/ Final Draft!!

Today I worked on catching up in my blogs. I was pretty caught up, so I went back through and added some details. It went well. The digital painting is also finished! I might go back and add some smaller details, but I'm pretty happy with the way that it turned out. The only part I'm not quite as satisfied with is the amount of blank space in the background, but I really like it!

Another Blog Day

Today I worked some more on documenting the big project. I also worked a bit on the big project itself, but I didn't really get much done. I'm almost finished with the documentation of the big project, so that's nice. I'm looking forward to finishing the project soon.

Blog Day

Today I worked in my other blog, which documents the production of my digital painting in great detail. I got a lot done in that blog, and I'm quite pleased with the progress I've made. My project is coming along nicely. If you'd like to see how far it's come and the ideas behind it, click here.

Even Closer to Done!

I've begun adding details to Noelle's reflection. At this current point, the reflection is nothing but a floating head, but the other details will be in as soon as possible. I'm quite satisfied with the work I've done so far, and I'm excited to finish this up.

Painting

The digital painting is almost finished! I still need to add some minor details, but it's looking really nice. I'm very excited to finish it up and see what the final product looks like.

Even More Coloring!

Today I added to my final project in Photoshop. I'm not sure how I feel about the advancements I've made. I like how the hat turned out, but the shading on the face is off. I don't have enough time to fix it today, but I probably will next class period. I'm still looking forward to how it turns out in its final form.

Coloring!

I've begun adding color to my big project. I'm loving how it's turning out, and I'm very excited to continue working on it in the future.

Even More Perspective

Here are the other two perspective based pieces I've done. I had no difficulties with it. I believe I did pretty well.

More Perspective

Today I worked on a couple of perspective drawings in Sketchbook. They were pretty easy, no difficulties. I really would've liked to work more on my bigger project today, but I didn't have much time to. The perspective seems to be a concept that I've got down, and I expect no trouble with it.

Beginning Sketches

Today I began creating sketches for my digital painting big project. I'm not sure how I want this t look yet, so I didn't get very far, but I'm starting to get an idea. I'm excitied to keep working on it.

Perspective in Sketchbook

Today I played around with Autodesk Sketchbook Pro. It's very fun, I like it quite a lot. I mostly focused on playing with the perspective tools, which was quite fun. I also played with the Copic color selector, which might be my favorite thing ever. I look forward to using this again.

Digital Painting Practice

Today, I practiced with digital painting in context. I looked up some tutorials, and just went for it. It went pretty well I feel. I'm especially proud of the progress I made with noses because they were very difficult at my first attempt. I hope to work more on eyes next class.

App Design

Today I started brainstorming app ideas for the Verizon Innovative App Challenge with a small group of friends. It's going very well, and I'm really excited about where it's going so far. The hardest part of the beginning steps will be which idea to choose. It's looking like our app will be education based, and I'm loving my group so far.

Screensavers! Mini Projects Galore!

Today, I worked on a lot of cool screensaver type things. They look good. I'm happy with them, and they weren't terribly difficult. I completely finished three total. It was a pretty productive day overall.

Panorama

Today I created a panoramic photo using Photoshop and a tutorial by Adobe. It was very easy. I had the most trouble figuring out how to import the photos. The signature was also a lot of fun to make.

Screensaver Mini Project 2

This is just a screensaver mini project that I completed a while ago, but forgot to post. This was relatively easy, and I really like the effect. I also learned a lot about filters on this project, which is useful.

Thumbnail Sketches

Today I worked on thumbnail sketches for my character design, and I made quite a bit of progress. I, sadly, don't have a picture of them today, but I did work on it quite a bit.

New Grey Scale

It has been brought to my attention that my last grey scale was very poorly shaded, so I decided to try it again. I think that it went much better this time, and I'm happier with the results. I can always use more shading practice anyways, so this is good progress. I also worked on the apple a bit more, but there wasn't much of a change, so I won't post a picture of that. Hopefully this one is better!

Reflection and Refining

Today, I wrote a couple of reflections on my progres so far in my big project (found on http://bigproject101.blogspot.com/), and I worked some more on the apple that I started a while back. The apple looks much much better in my opinion. I'm proud of how much my skills have grown since I last worked on it.

Blending Practice

Working on my blending skills. I did a grey scale. It wasn't very hard, and I had minimal trouble. The hardest part for me was placing the ruler lines correctly, not the actual blending itself. I also started a color blend practice, but I didn't quite finish that one. Hopefully it will be finished next class.

Squid

I made a cartoon squid in Adobe Illustrator today. I had a few problems with the shadows on the tentacles, but those were easily fixed. I also had some trouble with the burst in the background, but I worked around it. I really like this little octopus. It's kind of inspired by Squidward. I'm very pleased with it.

Research

Today I did a lot of research for my final project, which has to do with character design. That's coming along quite well, and I hope to do more next time.

Robot Final

Today I finished the vector robot using Adobe Illustrator. It turned out relatively well, though I'm not sure what went wrong with the highlights. I'm very satisfied with the coloring and gradients that I produced. I had some trouble with the outlining portion of the robot, but that was easily solved. The highlighting is backwards, I think, but I'm not sure.

Digital Painting!

A while back I worked on some digital painting and I forgot to post it. It is my first time with this, so I'm not sure that it's any good. However, it is a lot better than what I was expecting. This isn't finished quite yet, so it's still a work in progress.

Robot

Today I was working on creating a vector robot in Illustrator. I didn't get very far, but it is beginning to come together. I'm looking forward to working on it more.

Zebrocerous Part 3 (Completed)

This is the end of my work on the Zebrocerous Project. I can't say that I'm quite satisfied with how it turned out, but it is a bit better than I was expecting. The back right leg and the mane are where I had the most trouble, and the horn was kind of difficult too. The body and head, however, gave me almost no trouble at all. Overall, I think the zebrocerous turned out okay.

Zebrocerous Part 2

Today is the second time I've worked on the zebrocerous project. It's coming along slowly but surely. I've gotten the general cropping finished, but I still need to finish blending. The back leg still needs to be blended. I also need to figure out the horns and fix the mane. I'm not sure what to do with the face, but I'm sure it'll turn out alright.

Screensaver Mini Project

Today I followed a tutorial to make a screensaver. The yellow turned out very strangely. The color choice could have been better, and the curves could have been more defined, but I think I did pretty well for my first try.

Zebrocerous Part 1

I've begun the process of creating zebra-rhinocerous (zebrocerous) using Photoshop. So far, the only part that I've completed is cropping the rhino and zebra out. It took a bit longer than I'd expected due to the zebra's mane and tail. Hair is hard to crop smoothly. The rhino went much faster, but I had some difficulty regarding its feet. The next step, however is going to be much more difficult. Blending them together is going to take some time and skill. I'll work more on it next class.

Cropping

Today I learned how to use the lasso tool in Photoshop, and the task was to crop the Statue of Liberty out of a blue background. I think that it turned out pretty well. It was easy to do, and there were several different tools to use, which made it easy. It could have gone a bit faster, because at first I wasn't used to the tools, but I caught on after a bit. This is the finished result:

Levitation Photoshop

Today I attempted to make a man look like he was levitating using Photoshop. The results were not great, but they ended up alright. The walls are horrible. They're streaky and weird. I think I overdid it with the blending. I also had to replace the vent because it was horribly dented. The only thing I'm proud of in this picture is how well the shirt turned out. However, it wasn't too bad overall, I guess.
